Katelios is a fishing village in perfect harmony with nature and that is why it is ideal for nature lovers. There is a wide variety of (aromatic) plants, birds and of course the huge Caretta caretta sea turtles.
The main beach, Agia Varvara (St. Barbara), is located in a pristine area. Its most loyal visitors are the sea turtles! In the summer, turtles love the sandy environment and shallow water to lay their eggs in sand pits. You will recognise the nests because they are fenced off for protection.
Katelios is well known for its fish taverns. And after a great meal, what could be better than a walk on the quiet beach under a starry sky?
For many visitors, Katelios is the place to “recharge their batteries”. They return every year, simply because they love the natural atmosphere.
Katelios is located near the resort of Skala and is 45 minutes away by car from Argostoli and the airport.
